Cashew 1.0.1 release

Hello all,

we've just published Cashew 1.0.1.50, which is a maintenance release with several usability improvements:

- The "Make home currency" action now requires confirmation;
- It is now possible to enter the currency symbol manually;
- Corresponding Cashew User's Manual update;
- Other minor enhancements.

Please note that we have changed the version format, so the third digit is now the release number and the build number is the last digit as before.

Enjoy Cashew!

Cashew 1.0.2 release

Enjoy Cashew!

This release fixes two minor issues:

- reconcile form didn't allow to enter negative balances;
- date period input in the date picker didn't work correctly on some dates.

Enjoy Cashew!

Is syncing with Quicken even a remote possibility?

We have this feature in our TODO list, because quite a lot of people were asking about that. The main issue here is that Quicken doesn't provide any integration means (APIs, documentation on file formats), I contacted Intuit few times, but there were no answer.

The only possible way we see here is to reverse engineer Quicken database files, which is pretty time-consuming task (and will produce pretty fragile solution), so it has pretty low priority at the moment.

Another possible (but much less convenient) option is export transactions from Cashew and then import them into Quicken (this feature is currently work in progress).

This is exactly what I expected you to say. Darn them! Well I have plenty of other uses for your program. It's a great way to track my travel expenses, if nothing else.

Been using Cashew since release love it, best personal finance manager on the market, in my opinion.

Cashew 1.0.6 release

Hello all,

Cashew 1.0.6 is available on Android Market.

This release adds support for devices with small screen resolutions like HTC Tattoo.

Enjoy Cashew!

Is there a way to export / inport in this? I can't find a way to do it but it was mentioned on the last page.

Hello Andriy, I have yet to try your product but I will soon. Like many others on this and other forums I am a long time Quicken user; have used Pocket Quicken for many years, first in Palm OS and more recently in WM. I realize that adding sync capability to desktop Quicken is a major undertaking without Quicken's support.

Having said that, two alternatives come to mind. Have you considered working with any other desktop financial management program for sync capability development. If not, have you considered developing a desktop version of your program that can sync with the mobile version?

As many others have expressed before, the ability to syncronize with a desktop solution - any reasonably capable solution - is a make or break feature on any mobile financial app. I for one would be willing to migrate from desktop Quicken to any other comparable program if I can regain the much needed ability to capture all my transactions on my mobile device and sync with my desktop version when possible. This will allow me to have all my data available on my mobile and desktop at all times.

I know this is available with the online ClearCheckbook.com service which has an Android client already, but I like to keep financial data on my personal computer rather than an online server; not only for security and privacy, but for ease of access. Likewise Mint is not a very palatable option either; the idea of giving full unfeathered access to my bank and credit accounts (numbers/passwords) for someone else to aggregate the data, makes me very nervous - I have serious security concerns here.

Please consider the above suggetions, a desktop syncing solution is essential for many of us. You seem to be a very accessible developer that wants to grow the user base, I feel this will make your app unique and highly desirable.

Thank you very much for your consideration, looking forward to your thoughts on the matter.

Sincerely, Carl.
