Cast to Chromecast and Chromecast Audio Simulateously?

A

AC Question

I'm planning to buy a chromcast Audio, but only if I can also use it together with my tv. I would like to stream the video to the TV and the audio to the soundsystem. Is that possible or is there some other workaround that I can use without having to connect the reciever to the TV by wire?

If it turns out that I have to use wires, can I stream audio only to the stereo without turning the TV on? Do I have to use a splitter then?

Thanks.

A workaround would be flakey and more complicated than running a wire. I'd use an optical cable, then you can get 5.1 sound streaming in from Chromecast and out to the amp if the tv will handle it. An optical cable is really easy to hide too. If you don't have one long enough you can cut two with scissors and join carefully with sticky tape. Honest, I've done it!
