Need some advice. I currently have 2 unlimited data lines with Verizon. One line is eligible for up grade, the other has 17 months left (bought a 4s in November). Wanting to open a 3rd line but considering paying the ETF and going to a GSM provider.

The reason I'm considering GSM is for a unlocked Nexus phone that get software updates when google releases them . My previous phone was android but i jump ship to IOS do to carrier holding back updates.

I guess I'm wondering if you think google will ever release a unlocked CDMA nexus phone. And is it worth giving up 2 unlimited lines to go to GSM.

I guess that really depends on your data usage. Last month, I was traveling for two weeks, used over 6GB. CDMA has drawbacks, no doubt, but I'll put up with them for now to keep my unlimited. Location is big, too. T-Mobile is a great option if their coverage works for you.

I'd try to sell the contract to someone. :)

Will Google ever release an unlocked CDMA Nexus? That answer doesn't depend on Google, it depends on the CDMA carriers. It's very possible Sprint may get an unlocked Nexus, but I HIGHLY DOUBT Verizon will ever do so. Like less than a 1% chance.

I would definitely give up those data lines and go to T-Mobile or AT&T. Because if that is what Verizon is using to hold you, you'll probably be unhappy keeping them. It's better to give it up for freedom.
