Cell Phone Dash Cams - Anyone Done?

Was looking for dash board cameras and came across a couple of posts about using an old cell phone since it has the video camera with an App called Dailyroads. Just wondering if anyone has done this, used that or another App and was it worth the effort or a waste? I will be retiring a Droid X soon and this might be a good use for it.
Other than the cell phone, if you have a dash cam you like I would like to know about it. Thanks!
