cell standby battery drain

[AC Question]

i am sorry for english. i hope i can explain my problem. my english is too bad.. :/

my phone is asus zenfone 3 max. i have a problem about the battery life. The problem is "cell standby" using battery. i had researched on internet about the issue. But i could not find the solution. recent days i observing the battery usage. i had discover something that cell standby do not use battery after i restart the phone. if i open the cellular data, the problem is not start. But if i open the wi-fi after i close the cellular data, the "cell standby" begins drain battery. then it starts use the battery even i close the wi-fi and cellular data. After all this, i tried airplane mode on !!, "cell standby" still there eating my battery... i tried to block sim card, omg cell standby still using battery :O :O... i had discovered solution is restart the phone... How can i fix this bug ? Guys please offer me a way to solution without restart the phone... :////

Are you using an SD card? A bad one can cause trouble.

Hmmm this is a tough one to answer. :-/

Have you disabled VoLTE? I know you turned off Wifi and Cellular Data and tried airplane mode but do you have something called VoLTE in your settings?


This solution was posted by @Jdroids a while back here on AC. It was said to work for the device he was helping.

"Try turning off always scanning for wifi, smart network switch and VoLTE. Then reboot and see if improves."

It's for a different device but you could possibly get it to work for you.

Could it be you are in a marginal signal area and your phone is constantly searching for signal? I think cell standby is what controls your phone's signal being ready for calls, and having it constantly search for signal can kill your battery QUICK! There's a program called signal check pro that you can use to monitor your signal and see if this is the issue. You might also try tweaking some settings under Settings, More, Cellular Networks, Preferred Network Type. Try changing that to the different options, for example turning off LTE.

i am sorry for i said it did not work. it sometimes draining the battery after deleted all apps cache, it has 5-10% of battery remaining. So i think this is better than it has 20-25%...

okey it is important thing that signal level, but generally the signal is good. now the battery is full :/ i can not share you the signal quality right now. I will share battery history tomorrow

okey i understand is that under the location settings there wi-fi and bluetooth scanning. İ am sorry for my answer but both of the scanning' are off :/ :/

This is a difficult one. Even if you had WiFi scanning and Location reporting switched on, it would not necessarily cause high battery consumption. Of course, it might, since devices and the circumstances in which they are used, vary so much. But look at my Moto E/1, for example:

...And yet battery life is good.

I'm beginning to wonder whether it might be worth considering a backup and Factory Reset. But first we'll wait for your battery report tomorrow.

We'll do everything we can to fix this.

Edit: A thought has just occurred to me, which is that it might be worth trying Safe Mode. A third-party app may be causing the trouble.

guys i am really sorry for i did not keep my word. it caused by the battery problem, not linked you. i am sorry again :/ i am tired to give my time for this problem, finally i am be waiting the android update, but it seems not soon.
if i come the issue.. I did screen shoot my battery usage detail but i did not share to you.
