Certain apps don't work on Wi-Fi

Some apps like Facebook, Google Chrome, Whatsapp, etc work while on wifi, but others like YouTube, Gmail and Instagram do not initially work on wifi. For some reason if I go into the problem apps using mobile data then turn my wifi back on, they work with no problems. Once in a while, they also randomly work without any problems over wifi. I have tried updating my phone, restarting my router and updating the individual apps (they also do not update automatically despite me having auto-update enabled). This was not a problem when I first moved-in a year ago, but has randomly started occurring over the past few months. No wifi problems on other devices such as my laptop or PS4. Using a Galaxy Note 8.

I very rarely use Gmail on mobile data - I'm on WiFi almost all the time - and it works. So does YouTube (when I -rarely - use it on my phone).

I'd say it's something to do with the way you have your router set up.

Welcome to Android Central! Do you have control over the router, or is it a shared network, like in an apartment or condo?
