Android Central Question

Hi, my wife deleted around 20 photos from her S9, and then emptied the recycle bin - without realising they hadn't backed up to Google photos.
So I've tried connecting to my pc and using a CNET piece of software which claimed not to require rooting - when it got to the scan stage it said 'please root' 🤦*♂️
I really don't want to root, any suggestions for software that (may) actually work?
Many thanks 👍

If the photos were stored on an SD card, recovery can be quite easy using your computer and a card reader and any undelete software.

If the photos were stored on the internal storage, your chances of recovery without rooting are slim to none. Unfortunately the rooting process may destroy any previously deleted files. Installing any new software (rooted or not) will also risk overwriting the deleted files.
