Change hideous brown folder icon

Is it possible to customize the icon for the folder shortcut? I want to organize different sets of apps in folders on my homescreens, but I hate the brown block folder icon.

You could use folderOrganizer. You can customize the icon for it but it opens slower.

i would try an app called smart shortcuts as well. free in the marketplace

That's an awesome question and one that I would love to look into as well! Will definitely check out smart short cuts. Ultimately it would be nice to have folder options with a droid emoticons feel! Something fresh you know??!

there's also bettercut and desktop visualizer (sp) the latter is free and works quite well.

Shortercut will do the trick. You can use the bettercut icon packs with Shortercut.

There's an app called app organizer that allows custom folders plus a pretty neat way of organizing.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! I used FolderOrganizer as my work around...though it doesn't really take advantage of the native folders. I looked at most of the apps recommended and not one of them allowed the customization of the native folder icon, so I assume this is a limitation of Android in some way at this point.

I'll go with the workaround for now.
