Well, Google pulled a fast one on us without telling us. When the new app appears on your phone, all installed apps will default to "auto update over wifi". When you open the store, you have to go into the store settings and change it to what you want. I can see offering the option Google, but that was a little sneaky!

My setting in the new Play Store is to auto-update at any time (i.e. over cellular networks as well as WiFi). I don't remember changing it (though I may have).. are you sure it changed when you got the updated version?

Mine actually seems to have done the opposite. I was set to auto update before and now it asks for every update.

Yes, I had all my apps set to not update as I like to know what the changes are first and pick my own time to update. After the new store showed up I noticed at home on wifi I suddenly had apps updating on their own. When I went to the store and started looking at my apps, sure enough each one was checked to auto update. I then found the store settings and saw it defaulted to auto update over wifi for all apps. I don't recall if the old play store even had a global setting.

Yeah... google pulls stuff like this sometimes. I was cleaning out stuff and removed music by accident, when I reinstalled, not too long layer I got an alert that said my data usage was getting hammered.. whadafuq?

When music reinstalled, they flipped the bit about background loading and had sucked down 900mb before I caught it. Some settings are machines are maintained, some aren't I guess

I had it set not to auto update in the last version, and my setting persisted in the new version. In fact, all my settings did.

I don't think it did. It's nice to have it there in one place though.

Mine was default set to "auto-update apps over wifi only" which, at least is a hell of a lot better than auto-update anytime (over data).
