I accidentally clicked "always" when selecting a notification tone from the default list. Now when I try to change it I can't choose from the ones I've downloaded from Zedge. Anyone know how to fix this? I tried resetting app preferences and it didn't fix it

You've selected "media storage" as the default app to be used to select notification sounds. I've not found a way to access the Android media storage app in order to clear the "open by default" setting.

You might try resetting app preferences again. If that doesn't work I'd try uninstalling Zedge and reinstalling it. That might reset the option of choosing Zedge 'just once', 'always' or 'use another app' for ringtones. If that doesn't work you could try installing another app like Zedge that stores audio files. If that fails you could try installing a file manager app (this is a long shot, though.)

Here's Google's link, but I suppose you've already found this:

You have to go into settings, apps and notifications, under the list of recently opened apps select "see all xx apps", hit three dots in upper right corner and select "show system". Media Storage should now be listed so you can clear the "open by default" option.

Found work around. Went to another app that I hadn't chosen always for (email) and selected the Zedge notification I wanted. Then went to sms client and the Zedge notification is now in the list of system sounds

Media storage has no defaults. Clear defaults is greyed out

Thank you, thank you, and thank you!
