Change the size of the nav bar to get more screen real estate no root

Neat little trick. It works well. I did it on my phone earlier and it's definitely simple and makes the nav bar smaller. I went with the smallest option.

So you've tried this? I'm curious if it's truly as easy as just doing an uninstall through the app manager to return to default height.
Yes, all you have to do is go to your apps in the settings and uninstall the com.whalesplaho.framework file and reboot and you're back to stock.

it will be there but hides when not in use

no other way is even an option.

so if I tap for example on the bottom corner it would go back/show recent apps even though the buttons are not visible? I wouldn't have to swipe first to show then tap on the button?

Download Swipe Navigation from the play store and use that. Won't have to worry about it. Or just change the size of the nav bar if that's what you want to do. If you went full immersive, you would have to swipe up first to get the nav bar back and then use back or access recent apps. I didn't include home obviously, because you could just hard press for that button. Swipe Navigation allows you to not have to worry about that added step of having to bring back the nav bar while in full immersion mode. I set mine up for right edge use and it's perfect. Hell, I use it even while I have my nav bar active. It's just easier to reach than the nav bar most of the time if you set it up right.

no extra steps. im fine with my method. its called MINIMAL ABD AND FAST BOOT. install on pc not device. look in xda forum. those are where they develop android apps.im lazy and dense, if it works for me in ten seconds or less it will work for thousands.without root.

wont post again.

We're aware of the possibilities with full immersive mode via adb. That's not what this particular thread is all about.

why minimize size when you can hide it all together. look in XDA forums for instant fix.

Why not have both a small nav bar, when you need/want it there, and the option of full immersive mode?

I have both setup on my phone, along with swipe navigation, and I use it both ways. For example, there are keyboard issues while in full immersive mode in texting apps and the like, such as Textra, that aren't present without immersive mode enabled. In that situation, I like to have everything enabled. It's nice to be able to make the nav bar smaller in that circumstance, while I'm forced to have it enabled.

guys, ive offered kindly for more screen, and many want smaller nav bar. for those you TRY MY method, why want smaller bar when it can hide and return when needed. im sorry, i know i gave solution. its a 5 minute setup and seconds to hide or show bar. simple.

Most of us are fully aware of "YOUR method" and that it can be done via ABD, most of us tried it probably in May if not in April but I personally went back to stock because I like to just tap instead of swipe+tap for back or recents

If you decrease the size of the nav bar via the apk download will it have any affect on the future ota update that will allow you to hide the nav bar?

I'm getting a message from Lookout Security telling me this overlay is a threat. Never got an alert like this so not sure if I should be alarmed. Is there any reason not to trust the APK file?
