Changing backup locations on Google Nexus 7 using Stickmount and Mybackup Pro

Hi all - there is probably a very simple answer to this question, but I am unable to see it right now!

I have rooted my Google Nexus 7 following the info provided by ragnarokx in July.
I have installed and have used StickMount with a USB/thumbdrive - for other things like transfering files (read movies and pictures) from my PC to my Google Nexus 7 - successfully.

I have purchased MyBackup Pro and used it to create backups of data on my Google Nexus 7, which I have then copied to my StickMount-ed USB/thumbdrive.

However, I find it quite cumbersome to do the last as it is so time-consuming.
I had a thought that I could just backup directly to my StickMount-ed USB/thumbdrive,which seems really logical to me, but hard to acheive!!!!

After searching for the pathway in MyBackup Pro, it tells me that the backup pathway is currently /storage/sdcard0.
When I look at the StickMount-ed USB/thumbdrive, it tells me that the USB/thumbdrive address is /sdcard/usbStorage/sda1.

I would think that I could alter the MyBackup Pro backup file pathway to /storage/sdcard/usbStorage/sda1 but it tells me that "The path that you entered is not valid, your change was not saved".

I would appreciate any assistance, please!

And, of course, as soon as you "talk" about a problem, the solution presents itself...

I immediately saw that my error was that I should change the Mybackup Pro backup pathway to /storage/sdcard0/usbStorage/sda1.

Sorry to have wasted everybody's time!!!

I'm glad my video helped you out, and also that you figured out your problem :)

Going to move this over to the rooting forum for good measure.

Re: Changing backup locations - Nexus7 using StickMount & Mybacku

I'm having a problem with that mount point coming up as read only and not being able to change it (rooted). Have it formatted as NTFS and using Motley's custom kernal.

[KERNEL][GPL][Linaro][OC 1.6GHz][UV][GPU+][ZRAM][SIO+V(R)] 2012-08-10 motley 1.1.1 - xda-developers

Not sure how to remount it read/write, not working through root file manager (tried 3 different ones), or through terminal as superuser (su)

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I seem to remember something about NTFS formats not working with Android/StickMount/something, but I'm not an expert in this field... Maybe someone else?

Hmmm I thought custom kernal was needed for ntfs mounts to work. A bit confusing, can't find a definitive answer.
