If I were to jump ship and go from Verizon to AT&T, would I be able to take my S9 phone? Is it compatible with GSM?

It's compatible, but you need to make sure it's unlocked to work with other carriers' SIMs. I do believe Verizon has been selling their phones unlocked for a while, so that shouldn't be a problem (but if it is, and the device is fully paid off, then they should be able to unlock it for you).

Yes but some features like WiFi calling may not work.
