Changing new message icon

does anyone know how to change the little smiling caption that indicates you have a new message color? it is currently black, i want it green like it is in my dock. i am running CM 6.1 Nightly #184.

I am curious to doing this as well I want to change my black version (same as OP's) and make it that cool grey icon from Gingerbread.

I know theres a way to do it just now how

i guess while we're at it, i might as well ask: how can i change the color of the other icons as well?

Handcent will allow you to change the notification icon to different styles/colors. You might be able to download some icon packs and use Desktop Visualizer or Folder Organizer to change the other icons as well.

There app called chompsms that lets you change it. It looks like the iPhones SMS app with the bubbles I like it also lets you change the color of the bubbles and the layout. Try it out

i was hoping i didnt have to use a 3rd party app to do this. i used to use chomp sms and it killed my battery.

yep i disabled it all. and plus those icons aren't really exactly what i want. yes they are different colors but i am looking for the exact icon in my dock bar.

nobody knows how to change it? is there like a .zip i can flash or anything?

I'm not sure how to change it without a 3rd party app. Possibly a way in the ROMs/Hacks section or maybe ask over on XDA forums... I do know that Handcent has the exact same icon you are looking for in black, orange, purple, pink, red, blue and green.
