Changing SIM causes problems with apps

Hi,

I've just moved from Australia to NZ. Bought a new SIM in NZ when I arrived. Everything works ok except a lot of my apps are no longer available. For the apps that no longer work the icon for the app on the desktop has changed to a standard android picture and when I click on it nothing happens.

Examples of the apps that no longer work are imdb, note everything, tripview, compass, magnify, spirit level, most of the games, and more.

Any idea why?

Thanks,
Stuart

I changed the SIM back to the old one and then back to the new one again and all seems good. The only thing I can think of is the guy in the shop pulled my old SIM out and perhaps he didn't wait till it had fully shut down before doing so. Not sure though.

Welcome to Android Central! It sounds like your problem is resolved, but I wonder if what you described only represented broken app shortcuts, rather than the apps not working themselves. Remember that app icons on the homescreen (what you referred to as the desktop) are only shortcuts. If you checked your App Drawer (the list of all apps, accessible by tapping that icon with the grid of dots), my guess is all of the apps were still there, and if you tapped the app icon there, it would have worked. If you ever see your app shortcut icon on the homescreen changed to the Android icon, then remove that shortcut (by long-pressing, then dragging to the Remove or garbage can icon), then open the App Drawer and drag that app to the homescreen again.
