Charge or lack thereof--HELP

My N1 ac charger powers up. I plug my phone into the microUSB and the ac power light goes off. I unplug the phone and the ac power is back. I tried using the USB charger and my laptop and the phone still won't charge. :'(

Any suggestions? This is the first time I have ever had a problem with my phone.
