I just got my Galaxy S5 and noticed the charger is a 2 Amp output. This is much higher than most cell phone chargers (Blackberry was 750 mamp or so, and most are 1 Amp or less). Is this likely to shorten the battery life? I noticed that my old Blackberry charger actually ran a bit warm charging it, but it is less than 1 amp output. Also, anyone know if the Samsung charger has the chip in it that shuts it off when done? Blackberry did, and some Motorola's apparently did not.

No. Most modern phones are close to that amperage. It won't hurt your battery :)

Oh, and yes...they stop when your battery is full.
