Chargers Out There

I mean, probably. IT says it is rated at 3A per port, so in theory yes it should work.

Since no one actually has the phone in their hands, no one can really say for 100% certainty that it will charge it at 3A speed.

Also, any charger will be able to charge the phone, but only a 3A charger will give you the fastest speed possible. I have a bunch of 2.1A chargers and I'm not going to replace them with 3A chargers just to get a bit faster charging speed.

Just curious of opinions out there; but how important is it for you to have the fast charging available for your car charger? I've never had issues getting enough juice while driving from A to B and my current phone doesn't support any quick charging capabilities. It seems like a lot of you guys are holding out on the car charger until confirmed it can fast charge.

I find quick charging on a car charger very useful with my Nexus 6. During my 20 minute commute I can top off my battery. With a regular charger that might raise the battery a few percent. With quick charge I'm looking at adding an additional 15-20% during that time.

For a long trip, it doesn't matter since the phone will just sit there for a long period of time, but it's very useful to top off the phone as needed on trips around town.

I think the importance of having quick charge in your car is a matter of preference. Some may want it and some may not care. The important thing for me is that it be accurately identified with respect to the technology being either in a charger or not. It infuriates me when I see a charger that claims its compatible with he 6P (or whatever) but it doesn't employ the correct technology to take advantage of it but it really just no different than any other charger.

Hey guys, I think this charger may be the most reliable one I've seen so far. It's Qualcomm certified and has excellent reviews. The only drawback I can see is that it comes with a micro-USB cable instead of USB-C, so you'll still need to buy another cable. But the 6P does come with a USB-A cable, so if you don't plan on using it with your computer frequently, you could just leave it in the car charger.

Still won't quick charge the 6p though. It is a good charger but will charge at the slower rate (which is fine for most people)

Now that I'm looking at the forum more closely I can see the differences. There are a few 5V/3A car chargers out there, but the USB-C connection is missing.

I'm just ordering on Google's website. The small savings elsewhere just doesn't seem to match the hassle and inconvenience.

Unfortunately I flew through check out in a rush thinking it would be like past years. Also, didn't really understand usb-c and quick charge so wasn't really sure what was needed.

I'm definitely looking for a comparable external battery charger though.

I have had terribly crappy experiences with car chargers in the past. Even when getting so called "good" ones my phone would often charge so slowly that it would either go up maybe 1% battery every 15 minutes or it would actually drain while plugged in. I got a certified quickcharge car charger and it was the first one that could actually charge my phone. It never seems as fast as my home charger, but it works, and I appreciate that a LOT. I don't usually rely on my car charger as the primary charger on my phone, so I don't care if it's specifically "quickcharge" or not. I just want to know that I'll have a car charger that will at least charge my phone in some sort of noticeable fashion.

EDIT: Completely unrelated to car chargers, but has anyone found any USB-C wall chargers that "also" have a USB-A port? Would be really handy to have a plug that will charge my 6P (at fast charge speed) but also let me plug in my moto360 charger or kindle or something so that I don't have to carry two separate bricks around.

Bought a few of these to go with my existing chargers. Quality seems to be good....

If you are looking for a travel wall charger, the amazon 2 amp 10 watt chargers are solid, reliable, efficient, small, and output a strong 10 watts of power. There are a few adapters you can buy for a few dollars that let you plug into other countries as well.

As for a car charger, you can get them for like $5 on amazon that output at least 1 watt. There is also a kickstarter I saw that is a really cool take on this, as well. It is like a USB to Lighter adapter, except that when you unplug it, in continues to charge your phone by using a built in lithium battery. When you plug it back in your car, it recharges. It has LED lights and it's pretty cool, I am looking forward to it's launch.
It is called the pocket rocket, and you can find it on facebook at facebok.com/pocketrocketpower or pocketrocketpower.com

Also, please note that the Nexus 6P does not have a QuickCharge standard. It is using the completely standard USBC 2.0 connector. This is still a 1.5 or 3 amp 7.5 or 15 watt charge standard, which is pretty darn fast. This means you don't need to find one that is "Quickcharge" compatible, any 2amp to 3amp USB adapter should work fine.

so with only one exception of the 3A charger which probably wasn't made to the USB power delivery spec, I'd like to announce some BREAKING NEWS.

2A chargers will charge the new Nexus phones at 2A, and 3A chargers built to the USB 3.1 power delivery spec will charge the new Nexus phones at 3A.

END OF BREAKING NEWS.

Very important! I need fast charging for car more than at home or work. If I'm running 1 of my 3 kiddos from the umpteenth activities they are all involved in, plus switch out and cross reference kids with the wife I need fast, because if I'm working ot at home I'm not usually in a hurry. But those car charges gotta be fast from point a, to b, to c, and every so often even in the weekends, point D.
