I have to charge 3 times a day lately. Even with little use I'll have to charge at least twice. I turn off wifi when not needed, close running programs, etc. Any other suggestions?

There are threads out there for improving battery. Try some of those. Flashing a custom rom may also help. I switched to com ROM 2.1 and noticed a change

It's very difficult to search the forums on Tapatalk (at least for me). Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Don't know how comfortable you are with flashing a custom ROM but it definitely improved my battery life. I'm currently using CM7 nightly, build 67, ED05 radio. I have loads of apps and can squeeze about 9 hours with moderate use.

If your phone is discharging (close to zero) three times a day, than its pretty safe to say your battery is bad. No ROM change or anything else is going to help that. I recommend getting a new battery. You can find them on ebay for less than 20 bucks in some instances.

I would agree, first thing is get a new fresh battery and then address the idea of replacing the rom. Without a good battery even a great rom would not solve that issue. I would suggest an extended battery, it will make your life easier if you find you rip through a battery in a day any way.

Make sure gps is off and any other location service. But like they said probly just need a new battery.
Having a bright screen on really sucks the juice, and pulling down data if u do that alot thats probly why. Good Luck

Another advantage of flashing a different ROM (I'm using CM7) is you can charge any battery in the phone. The stock ROM will not charge a non-Samsung Battery for some reason? I have 3 batteries, I just swap them out. The cheap one I got on Amazon works as well as the 2 Samsungs!

It's actually the custom kernel that allows for non-OEM batteries. So if someone wanted to use non-OEM batteries but stay stock, they would just need to root, install CWM and flash a custom kernel. Just FYI

This explains something I didn't even think about. We bought my wife's Fascinate from Best Buy, when they were free, she took it in to complain about this, and they sent her a new battery, which was not a Samsung battery, and it stopped charging it after a few weeks, now I at least know why. Really want to see if I can't root her phone, but I haven't had the guts to do it yet, but they have just been pushing so much junk on it lately.

Just my $.02 - yes it sucks when your battery life ... sucks. There are ways to improve things and I would recommend anyone follow the tips available on these forums. They do help - and figuring out if you have "rogue apps" or a bad battery is important and there are some common sense "rules" to follow throughout the day. I am rooted and I am getting great battery life overall, but that's not the only solution. As mentioned - get another battery. Just do it.

I was resistant for a long time, but here's my advice - bite the bullet and get an extra battery (or more) and/or an extended battery. I now have two official and two OEM and an external charger. (I got the two OEM + charger at Amazon for $7 +S S&H (see the accessory forum here). Change your whole perspective.

I am still not a power waster and I do plug in when I can (at PC or in car), but having that extra battery(s) just means you can use your phone and not worry about it. What I have is overkill, but for $7 why not get a couple emergency spares? Turn that beautiful screen up! Stream some stuff, son!

Sure pulling your back off and powering off/rebooting is a bit of a pain, but it's worth it!

Got an extended battery and it's great! Also installed Juice Defender and I saw some improvement with old battery.

Thanks for the help.
