Is it me or is big red now charging for something else for free last season of the NFL mobile app. They want you to pay 5 bucks a month in order to watch the games are you to be able to watch for free last season. Pretty weak.

There first season (2010) the live video was free for all Verizon customers who downloaded and installed before a certain date. Last season (2011) they were charging for the video including the Red Zone and NFL Network but ran a promotion that allowed all 4G phones to get the premium features for free. If you were a 3G customer you had to pay for the premium features. I was lucky enough to get in on promotions the first two years. Maybe they will run another promotion.. I guess I cannot expect to be so lucky.

yep, they are charging for video streaming. it was fun for free while it lasted.

it is actually worse than you think. Verizon owns the app but this year they pulled the liscence from other wireless companies. I spoke to Verizon Wireless TS and you can ony get the NL Mobile app if you are a verizon wireless subscriber. I am on Sprint and it wil notallow me to even download the app to install on my android. It doesn't matter that I am also a Verizon FIOS customer, I now have no way to watch even the Mobile Plus $69 games on my android. This sucks and I really hope Verizon gets a black eye fro this or someone develops a way to get around their lock app (hint hint hint)

Since the deal, Verizon has always had the exclusive license. Same with Sprint before them.

Yes, same with Sunday Ticket. Should a Dish customer get mad that Direct TV pays the NFL to have access. This is a way they see to differentiate themselves from Dish. Verizon Wireless sees the same for NFL Mobile. Personally not a big deal for me, I never watched last year when free. When Direct TV gave me the Sunday Ticket for free one year I think I watched maybe part of one game. Now if they had a similar App for college football I would probably pay for the APP, have not really liked what I have seen so far.
