Charging issues after August 2020 Update

hi all,
hope everyone is safe and healthy. After I got the August 2020 update on my Pixel 3 XL, I noticed that my phone is having charging issues. to be exact, the battery icon now shows my phone is charging 100% of the time, this is whether I have it plugged in or not. If I plug the phone in, charging disconnects and reconnects.. if it stays charging and I disconnect the charger, it shows the screen effect for Wireless Charging.

Anyone have any issues like that?

I've tried Safe mode, force reboot and even factory wiping the phone.

Any input is helpful.

Thanks

If it is still under warranty I would make a claim. I had a charging display issue with my Pixel 3 and they replaced it.

I agree if any warranty or have insurance might have to choose that route.

Google said they'd replace it as warranty is still good until Nov 2020.. which is awesome. the service rep is looking to see if they can do advanced replacement.

Cheers

You also tried cleaning the charging port (i.e, by blowing it out with a can of compressed air and cleaning the contacts with rubbing alcohol)? Could be coincidence if some crud got in there at the same time as the update ...

Yes I tried that. no go unfortunately. issue persists.

So i tried a wireless charger just as a trial and oddly enough the phone wont charge through wireless charger.

So perhaps something went haywire with the wireless charge system and is causing the issues i am experiencing.

Might be worth doing a factory reset to see if that clears it up. But if they're going to give you a replacement anyway, it's not that important.

that was the 3rd step I did after trying safe mode and force reboot. Heck, I even went to Android 11 Beta and Issue remained. hence why I am now thinking its hardware related. Odd enough for it to start right after the August 2020 update.

Oh sorry, I forgot you tried the factory reset. I searched for the term "reset" in the thread and didn't find it -- because you used the term "wipe" instead.:)
