What is the best way to charge my Note 3? I've read various methods but since the power requirements are different from a typical phone I wasn't sure which direction to go.

Does your car have a USB port? If so you can use that. Otherwise, you can use a regular power adapter if your car has a 120v outlet or if not then use one that plugs into the cigarette lighter.

Sorry it is an older truck and has a 12V power port and a cig lighter. I keep reading different things about the USB 12V chargers and the power requirements for the Note 3 compared to what I'm used to when I had my iPhone. Then I'm also hearing about a "charge only" cable so I'm not quite sure what to buy because nothing is consistent and it's frustrating.

Any car charger will work. For the Note 3, I suggest getting a 2.1+ amp car charger.

Now, I'm not sure about the Note 3, but with my S4, certain cables didn't charge the phone at full power. These were 3rd party micro usb cables and charged only up to 500-700 amps. I kept losing power when using GPS and bluetooth music which obviously means something is not working right. Then I bought a MediaBridge charge only micro usb cable and that worked fine; charging the phone at full power. I use the same setup with my Note 3 without any problems. It'll be better to just use the OEM cable since it's meant for the phone if you don't want to deal with charge only cables.
