So up until now, I have had no problems with my phone. It is rooted and running ath3nos' cm7 7.1.0 ROM. Yesterday I plugged my phone into my charger and it didn't start to charge so I connected it to another charger in a different outlet. This didn't help either. Later I checked my phone and it was like burst charging, where it would charge for a few seconds then not charge. Anyone know what's going on? And hell would be much appreciated

This is just a guess but I would say it was a faulty micro USB cable. I know there are others that had issue with them. Try a new cord. Also make sure USB debugging isn't activated. I think that I read of others with that issue.

I've had the same problem and as stated above, it turned out to be a bad micro USB cable.

I also started having this issue. Burst charging, good name for it. I started AC charging lastnight, woke up to phone at 26%. Plugged into car charger and burst charged for a second, then dropped all the way down to 5% (I use my phone as a navigator/gps). Tried the other phone charger I have with the same results (both are DC car chargers from Sprint). On the second charger is when I noticed that it would start to charge, then stop. Got home and plugged into the USB of my powered USB hub and it appears to be charging fine, but really slowly. I'm going to disable debugging and see if that helps.

I've been experiencing something similar. I have used different combinations of chargers and USB cables. When charging using AC it would stop. If unplugged the cable from the phone and reinserted it would start charging again. I would have to keep checking to see if it's charging. I started charging via USB on my pc. Then that started doing the same. I would have to unplug and replug the USB cable for it to start recharging. Eventually I could no longer get a USB connection to browse the phone and attempt to restore to stock so I could bring the damn thing back. The ability to use USB comes and goes. I have also tried on multiple computers. I have to keep checking the phone to see of it's charging. When it does charge, it takes hours to complete. USB came back today. I hope I can get it back to stock for warranty.

Edit: I'm using Reborn 2.2.4

It could also be the connector on the phones board. Solder on them breaks or gets an intermittent connection, happens a lot on laptops too.

I have started experiencing this as well recently, and im using Drew's CM7 as well. This could be a recent update bug yall

What he said. Bad cables ruined my first Opti and subsequent rejects caused no end of goofy problems.

One other thing you might not know -- like I didn?t -- when the PC is asleep, it doesn?t supply 5V out the USB ports. I have to use a separate wall charger for overnight charging. But I suspect I?m the only one that didn?t know that.

My phone has had this issue ever since I first flashed Scott Pilgrim's edition CM7 months ago. I've tried new cables, chargers, debugging on and off, and different ROM's but nothing has ever worked. Charging via a USB connection to a computer always works though so that's how I charge my phone every day. I have yet to hear of this problem on stock phones though, hmmmmm.....

If you've tried different phones I'd almost say it was a hardware issue, as none of the ROMs have that issue. It could be that it just so happened when you flashed your other ROM, another part of the phone broke. Also, with the pins on the USB port on the phone, one of those may have lost their solder so it doesn't make a good connection. I really wouldn't say it is a ROM problem.

you would think I could find one person on this entire Optimus S forum to do this :(
id rather order the OEM. Conflicting info I see.

Ok found it.

LG STA-U12
Output: 5.0v 0.7A

eek that is not the model I was thinking!
You are 100% with it in hand and it works on your phone right? :)

EDIT: I was expecting more digits.... like STA-U12WD

WARNING: DOES NOT WORK WITH "LG OPTIMUS S" PHONE. The phone's OEM charger is model STA-U12WD. This charger is model STA-U12WR. Had to pick 3 stars because I'm neutral and can't actually rate the charger's performance.
