I feel as though when I turn off the phone and charge the phone I get a better charge then if I leave the phone on while it charges. Does it actually get a better charge or its all in my head?

A fully charged battery is a fully charged battery. Personally I think it makes more of a difference to charge it slowly (via USB) then to charge it quickly (2amp tablet charger) but I don't have any facts to back that up, just opinion.

The only thing that makes charging "off" better, is that it's faster. When the phone is on, some of the charging current it kinda wasted as it goes to the battery, but then the battery is being used because the device is on. If the device is off, the full current goes directly to the battery with nothing else drawing that charge away from the battery.

No, it doesn't get better charge, but it does get better calibration.

In practice, nobody turns off the phone while charging. No worries.

Just got a Lugulake Qi charger for Christmas that has a internal 6000 mHa battery and now I never even go below 50% charge. This Qi is a great feature that is so portable that you can charge almost anywhere.

I wouldn't worry about turning off the device to charge it. It may charge slightly quicker turned off since it won't be using services. But that's probably about the only benefit of charging the device while powered off. Someone feel free to correct me if there are other benefits.
