Question Charging Phone

I have the Samsung A35

In both scenarios below, my phone is On but the screen is Asleep.
1. When I plug in my charging cord, the phone beeps & starts charging. At the bottom of the screen, it shows the battery's percentage & how long before fully charged.
This information is dim & very hard to read. Is there a way to brighten this up?

2. I opened Settings > Display > Screen saver
I chose Clock & set it to Digital. But when I plug in my charging cord & the phone starts charging, the Clock Screen saver does not show up.
Anyone know what could be stopping this?

Yes, that does work.
But of course, I can hardly see the time & it's not in screen saver mode.

I did figure out that if I leave the screen Awake & plug the phone in, charging starts as normal & my screen saver does indeed start. I just have to wait for my display's timeout to trigger.
I should have figured this out before posting, DOH!
