Charging + wired headphones

Does anyone know if you will be able to use wired headphones *AND* charge the phone at the same time?

The reason I ask is I mainly listen to Spotify in my car while driving as I can't stand radio. If I'm going to be driving for more than 30 minutes or so, I usually plug the phone in to charge just so the battery isn't worn down when I get to my destination (running the Android Auto app). However my current car doesn't support BT audio streaming, so I plug my 6P into my audio aux jack in my car using the headphone jack. When I buy a Pixel 2 XL, it seems to me that I'd have to choose to either plug the phone in for charging, or plug it in to my aux jack. That's not idea. I guess the other option is to get one of those BT audio adapters, but that will likely conflict with the BT phone system in my car. (I do have plans on buying a new car, but I'm waiting for ordering to open for it)

You could use an adapter like this one and do both at the same time:

I like the fact that it is an accessory that is part of Google's Made for Google program. I don't like that price. I also don't like the fact that it is another dongle. At the same time this is the first time that someone made something like this that looks like it will actually work. It doesn't look half bad either. I kind of wish it was included in the box though lol.

Was just able to check the link and trick it to think I'm in the USA, and x2 on the price. If they even bother to sell it here, it will probably be $100

Guess I'll have to look for something similar.

Resurrecting the conversation a bit, but I'm faced with the same scenario and was wondering if there's alternative options if I don't have a Google device. Some solutions feature a wireless bluetooth dongle for your car, but then I'd end up having to charge that too. It'll probably be a good 10 years before I have Bluetooth in my car. Is it common to have a dongle that allows both aux input and charging? I take a lot of long road trips. Thanks for any suggestions!

You could get an inexpensive Bluetooth adapter that connects to the AUX port. I just got one for my daughter's car - it included a micro-USB charging cable, which you could leave plugged in, although it advertised 15 hour battery life.
