[Chatter] "Where everybody knows your name ..."

I'm running with the Galaxy Nexus and it has issues right now. Likely from abuse as a hotspot for thousands of hours on end. Here are my two options:

  1. stick with the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7, order a shiny new Nexus 10.
  2. order a shiny new Nexus 4 to replace the one that I broke, keep the Nexus 7, $100 extra in the development budget.

So I get either a Nexus 4 or a Nexus 10. I can't decide. I do really want a 10 for personal use, but I need a working phone for development. The Galaxy Nexus would work, but not quite as well as the 4.

Nexus 4. I hope HTC makes the nexus 5

Sent from there can only be HTC One

I say nexus 4. It's a necessity to have a fully functional phone.

I have yet to get around to doing a nice deep clean on the Galaxy Nexus and flashing shiny new ROM/kernel/radios. I need to do that before making the decision. It hasn't been changed in any way since like November, so thousands of hotspot hours later without even updating the radios... it's due for a refresh. :p

I'd say N4. Not sure how much you use your N7, but if you really want an N10 you can sell the 7 and get the 10.

Tempting, but I love my Nexus 7. :)

I love my N7 too. My stepdaughter has a 10" tablet (viewsonic) and I prefer the size of the 7". The only way I'd go bigger is if I got a Transformer or something like that

I use the 7 for web browsing, streaming radio while lounging outside (can hold it one-handed for a bit without being uncomfortable), and AC/MN stuff. If I get the 10, I'd use it for my photography (really want a nice screen to show off my photos), movie streaming (uncompressed Blu-Ray library I've been building), and general awesomeness.

Speaking of my photography, I finally got around to editing some of the photos I took in December around Mt. Adams and Mt. Hood. If chatter wants, I'll upload a few later to share.

Chatter finds this desirable...I'm busy learning what Is necessary to determine the likelihood of my hypothesis..and it's challenging but at the same time fun...

I vote to see the pics. I'm not great at photography but I love looking at good pics... Landscape and B&W especially

Day out with the family at the forest preserve and then the park.

Only two of the four kids looking down at smartphones during a family photo? I expected more of you Paul. :p

Edit: and I'll upload those photos later. I'm busy over in the Entertainment forum composing a thread on the Blue Scholars, a music duo from Seattle. Because I can.

That I can see from over use.

Neither of those seem to me to be something that should occur from overuse.

Why would that happen?

That I can see from over use.

The phone spent literally thousands of hours sitting in the same place with an uninterrupted active LTE session (the longest sustained authenticated session was something like 800 hours), with the WiFi hotspot running as well as multiple background services related to my apartment (media server type stuff). Longest uptime period for the device itself was around 1,420 hours if I remember correctly. That's just barely under two months (59.2 days). I had a network engineer I know at Verizon keep an eye on it for me.
