Choppy FPS in games

Anyone else having a problem with the FPS in games running 60+ then getting choppy for a second and going back to 60+. Angry birds Rio and jetpack joyride seem especially bad for this. Is it just because these games aren't optimized for the processor? I remember they ran fine on my 2 year old iphone 4s so I don't know what the problem with this phone is.
