Hi

I am getting a Chromebook for Xmas and was wondering what is the best process.

Charging first or just turn on?

Also do I need to update the OS immediately out of the box as an Acer R13 which is an older model? I am hoping to use Android Apps and i think i need to do something that allows this?

Thanks

It should have some battery when opened. Login with your Gmail account and it will automatically update in the background. It will notify you when to restart. Any android apps will need updating from the play store app. I love my Chromebook.

Congratulations! Just turn it on, but I'd keep it plugged in while using it initially, since you'll probably use it harder than usual at first (just like on a phone).

Although the OS will update in the background automatically, this can sometimes take a little while to happen on its own. You can always bring up the quick settings panel at the lower right, click the gear icon, then About Chrome OS, then Check for Updates to manually do it.

The R13 should be automatically compatible with Android apps. Just look for the Play Store icon on the bottom shelf.
