Chromebook Pixel 2

So, how is the Chromebook Pixel 2? Was it everything you hoped for?
It was incredible, but it ended up being too much for me to spend, so I returned it. If you have the extra money and love Google like I do, then it's absolutely worth it. I just had some expenses that came up and I couldn't do it.

No worries! A Chromebook Pixel 2 is definitely expensive, so I wouldn't blame you for returning it. At least you got to touch it. :)

Do you think it would be difficult for Google to make a lower-cost version of the Pixel?

I'm trying to figure out what could be downgraded to reduce the cost, but it's difficult because the Pixel has so many nice features.

Yeah, I wish I had the grand to cover it, but unfortunately I don't. If it was around $700, I think I could have made the plunge. But it is one beautiful device. Honestly, if you have the cash and love Google, I don't see why you wouldn't buy one.

I think they could, but I doubt they will. With a lower processor (maybe one of the new Cherry Trail processors that is in the Surface 3 or an i3 or Core M), that would still be lightning fast in Chrome, they could save a few bucks. Maybe do a 4GB Ram version and an 8GB on the high end. They could also do a nice IPS 720p touch screen that would save some money. And even with a backlit keyboard, they could maybe get down into the $500-600 range. That would be AWESOME and I'd be flinging my fake Google Wallet dollars at them!

I connect my I7 Chromebook Pixel 2 to a VGA monitor that is available at the college where I teach. It works fine. One benefit with using a Chromebook is that the wifi bandwidth used by the computer appears to be less that that consumed by my Macbook Pro or Surface 3 Pro. The school has weak wifi. This computer is perfect for the classroom and browsing the web at night.

Anyone still using their Pixel 2? This thread looks like it's dying. I got fed up with my semi new computer running windows 10 and bought the LS. So far I like it but have ran into small issues with printing in docs and finding a decent exchange mail app.

It's amazing how fast web sites load compared to my Toshiba and old Macbook Pro.

I use my Pixel 2 daily. This is my main computer. I use the W10 laptop to do one thing that requires Silverlight, otherwise it's all Pixel. And it gets better every month. Best laptop I have ever had!
