I have been using a Vizio Co-Star for a year now. I have to say, the Chromecast has a crisper, sharper picture than the CS while watching Netflix. Same TV; same WiFi. The Chromecast even beats the CS when the CS was wired to the router. I'm amazed at this little device.

To be fair, the Co-Star does more. It has a browser, which we use for NHL GameCenter Live, local TV, etc. But now I can give the Co-Star to my husband and he can watch hockey on his TV.

Jerry's review of the Co-Star wasn't exactly glowing:

I don't think the Chromecast will stream in surround, will it? I'm not sure, but thought it only did stereo, which means I'll stick with my BD player for now. Although I actually didn't try Netflix on mine yet. Guess I should.

EDIT: Nevermind. According to Netflix, it will do 5.1: https://support.netflix.com/en/node/10380. I'll probably still stick with my BD player since it works my Harmony One, but I love my Chromecast for Google Music and YouTube.
