Chromecast not connecting to college internet

I purchased a Chromecast in hopes of being able to watch Netflix in my dorm room. After going through the setup process, it tells me that it has connected to Wi-Fi but has no connection to the internet. Because I am using the college's Wi-Fi I can't just simply unplug and restart the router, and I can't really afford to get an extender right now. Any thoughts on how I can fix this?

Thanks

Welcome to Android Central! What kind of authentication does your school's wi-fi require? If it's more than just a wi-fi password (i.e., if you have to go to an authentication login website), then I don't think that's possible -- see this article: deadspin-quote-carrot-aligned-w-bgr-2<\/title><\/svg>')}.f_branding_on.blog-group-deadspin .editor-inner.post-content .pu

I would also be cautious about connecting your Chromecast to a network that's widely used by others, because anyone else connected to that network could get notifications of what you're streaming unless you remember to turn off the "Let others control your casted media" setting in the Google Home app. Other people might also be able to connect to your Chromecast and start casting things to it -- and considering that you're in college, this might be ripe for some annoying pranking.

Welcome to Android Central. I would assume the college has restricted access, and potentially, allowed sites. Have you contacted their IS&T department?
