Chromecast not visible but not working

Starting this morning my Chromecast has not been working. It's visible on my network and in the Google Home app and the backdrop is working on my TV but when I try to cast to it, nothing. I've rebooted and factory reset it to no avail. My wireless network is a Google WiFi mesh so there shouldn't be any issues there but I reset the network just in case with no progress.

I'm wondering whether this is a wider issue because when I called into support, the wait time was over 6 hours. Anybody have any advice or experiencing something similar?
 
4:11 PM EST, and it's still down. Evidently an update they pushed out is bad, and it's going to take hours, maybe days, after they figure out what went wrong to push the new (supposedly fixed) update to everyone. Don't count on Chromecast or Google Home for a while.
