chromecast without wifi??

hi I just wanted to know if there is a way of mirroring the screen of my phone to the Google Chromecast device without using WiFi??? as in the home internet WiFi??

Nope. At some point they announced WiFi Direct support but that never materialized, so to mirror the screen your phone and Chromecast must still be connected to the same router (doesn't need internet for that but it does require a router in the middle)

Even with the router in the middle (you can get a cheap travel router for $20) it still will not work. Your CHROMECAST has to phone home to the internet to allow you to use it. Else it’s boot routine fails and freezes. At least that’s true with all my tests.

Unless someone can suggest a better router that did work and they know will work?

Ummm, nope, not for mirroring. I've used it on a dummy router before. It will not work for casting content from apps, but if it's screen mirroring, the connection doesn't require internet, just to be in the same WiFi network.

Understand the difference between MIRRORING and CASTING. It’s a good note to know and understand. Will try a MIRROR without an internet connection to see what happens. Thanks much for that information.
