Cleaning up contacts and where did all these duplicate contacts come from?

First I want to say that when I connected my phone into my computer last night, I realized (after looking at my contacts today) that I have so many contacts - so many of them are dupes and some are people that have deceased or I have no clue who they are. Where did they come from and is there a quick way to delete duplicate and unneeded contacts in my phone?

Welcome to Android Central! In your People/Contacts app, look for an option to select which account to show. It might be importing contacts from other accounts that you have, like Yahoo and Facebook.
