Cleaning up Uninstalled apps

I've noticed, almost always, that when you uninstall an app it leaves its directory structure behind on the SD Card. I've also noticed that if you reinstall the same app it will often pick up your previously set defaults from this info. So, maybe it's not altogether a bad thing.

However,

Is there any harm in cleaning up the SD Card by manually getting rid of these directories that are left over by uninstalled apps?

I always do it, Don't think it will harm anything..
