Clear Cache Partition?

Hi all, was wondering if anyone could give me a little help. I was looking for suggestions for maintenance after manually applying the 4.2 update. One was to delete the cache. I followed this method:

Reboot your tablet into the bootloader by turning it off, and then pushing the volume down + power buttons at the same time. Then, use your volume buttons to select the recovery. If you?re on a stock recovery, wait until you see the Android with the red exclamation point, and press volume up + power at the same time. Select the option to clear your tablet?s cache.

The problem I'm having is when I do this, it starts the process but then quickly exits and reboots. From my understanding I should be prompted to manually reboot though? I'm unsure if the action is actually being preformed.

Can anyone replicate this? If anyone is wondering, the process merely removes old cached files which may be causing conflicts ( and therefore, lag). No files/personal data will be wiped. Purely beneficial.

Further info is that I'm stock and unrooted.
Thanks
