clicked to check for updates, and it's been checking for an hour.

I was in the settings area and saw the option to check for updates. It has now said "checking for new software available now". I assume there is no update out there, but I am afraid to back out of this area. Is it safe to just go back to the home screen?

This happens to me every so often. Just back out of it and try again. Sometimes it gets hung up on something. No big deal.
