Clockwork icon displays with no chance to recover

So I tried to load a rom on my dinc and it failed. Was running CM7 and for some reason wanted to try another one (at this point I have no idea which one it was since it's been about a week). When I boot up, the phone hangs on the HTC splash screen. When I go into try and recover my previous image, Clockwork just shows the pic of the hat with the arrow circling back (see attachment).

Yes this is a case of someone who should not mess with their phone, messing with their phone. That said, any help is greatly appreciated.

I've tried every option in Clockwork and it always goes back to this.
I even tried re-rooting with Unrevoked (figured I'd try anything) but it couldn't load the package.

Thoughts (kind ones), suggestions (again, no need to be rude).

Thanks

Try downgrading Clockwork to 2.x with the instructions here...

http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc.../64287-how-downgrade-cwm-not-rom-manager.html

Then, go into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik and re-flash your desired ROM.

This should fix it.

CWM 3.0.0.5 and 3.0.0.6 had some issues with wiping the partitions.

Once you're back up and running, then you can upgrade to 3.0.0.8 in ROM Manager by going into menu -> settings and selecting "Erase Recovery," then look in All ClockworkMod Recoveries and select 3.0.0.8

Thanks for replying to this, the behavior here was odd. CWM was not responding so I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to wipe cache and davlik. All of the sudden, it was up and running and allowing me to actually pick my menu choices again.
I followed the steps on the link you provided and I am now getting back to my second to last restore point. Everything seems to be running smoothly and I will upgrade CWM here shortly.
Thanks again for the response, seriously thought I was going to have to sit without a phone and wait for the Bolt to release (if it ever does).

You hit the power button. No biggie and no need to downgrade. Simply just hit the power button again.

On the 2.xxx recoveries it went to a black/blank screen and people would freak. Now the screen still displays.

I would hit the power button several times and nothing would happen, just back to the CWM icon. The program was unresponsive for several days. Not trying to downplay your response, just saying, that in this case it wasn't the power button.

Oh, well that's no good. Then yes, a reinstall or downgrade would be needed.

You would think I knew that by now.
