Situation:

+ Old phone screen got smashed
+ Usage of the old phone is very chaotic; phantom taps
+ Ecobank app is signed in and works on old phone.
+ Installed same app onto new phone but cant sign in. Bank tech support is useless. Going on 4 months now without a solution.
+ Old phone is rooted. New phone can be rooted.

Q: Is it possible to clone the old phone's bank app + relevant data to the new phone to resolve things?

Old Phone: Umidigi F1
New Phone: Umidigi Power 7

I'd say no as there are security concerns. You don't want it to be easy for someone to clone financial information. Downloading the app on the new phone and going through the signup/authorization process is there for your protection.

Probably have to disable it on the old phone before you can activate on the new. If it's anything like my bank's app, it uses the phone's IMEI to help identify you.

Welcome to AC!

Which bank app ?
What error you getting?

What steps have you tried?

And no you won't be able to clone the apps bank details to log in , like mentioned security.
You have option like Google auto fill that can save log in information or apps like last pass .

Additionally, most banking apps won't work on rooted devices for security reasons.

New phone isn't rooted, just the old phone that has the working app. Thinking it's more along the lines of only one device at a time.

Welcome to Android Central! Do you get an error message when you try to sign into your bank account on the new phone? Is there some kind of initial authentication process, like having receiving an SMS authentication code that's not coming through?

UPDATE

The app does in fact work on rooted devices. When installing it asks for the debit card or online username. When originally installed onto the old phone i successfully activated the app with my debit card. Now when i go to do the same with the new phone, both debit and username are no longer accepted. I've signed out of the old phone application so that isnt what's holding it back.

Error messages are:
"Sorry your mobile number record cannot be found. Please use a registered number."
"We could not find a record with the details provided."

Strangely, internet banking confirms the mobile # is correctly registered. The difficult part is the bank refers me to tech support and support has an ongoing ticket with no followup. I'm not keen on deinstalling the old phone app to then be stuck with no mobile app access. The very least if tech support could re-assure me of any drastic actions rather than me just flailing about for a solution, i'd be ok with that.

Internet Banking reveals only partial accounts whereas the mobile app reveals all my accounts. Baffling as to why and there is no solution coming any time soon, hence why i need mobile app access.

Are you able to deregister your phone number, then register it again?

Also, try including the country code in your phone number, if you're not already doing so.
