Its been a while since I've owned a Samsung product and this phone brings back memories of why. Gave Samsung 3 years to get it right while LG and HTC has had it right in the software department for quite some time. It puzzles me why in 2015 with 14nm processing in play ANY phone still has lag. Here are the things I've notice on the Edge that HTC or LG doesn't have any issues with.
  1. Browser lag - Browser lags horribly during scrolling and many times hangs up during connecting to websites. And no I will not use a secondary browser or turn off java script.
    1. Stutters and blinks while pushing through applications fast - There still seems to be an issue with Samsung when pushing the device. Irking blinks and stutters throughout the UI
    2. Full home page redraws - Why does this freaking think redraw the home page so many times??? This has been a problem with S products since they've launched years ago. Leave an application open and lock it and sometimes the clock widget or the entire homepage stutters and redraws..SMDH
    3. Inconsistent fluidness when opening from wake - When the phone locks and you unlock it the UI jerks as if the processor is trying to reach its proper power..SMH
    4. Slow locking - This has been an ongoing issue for Samsung for while. Try to install a 3rd party lock screen on the device and it gets real ugly when using the power key. This is because the software's response time when locking with the power button isn't instant.

I surely doubt that I will keep this phone especially since there is no way to replace the battery and Samsung has an abysmal record on battery shelf life. The design is stunning but the most important part of the phone (Software) is just not up to par with the competition.

Can't disagree about the stutter and lags. Have the same exact experiences on my edge. Browsing on my super fast (150Mbps) WiFi network is painful sometimes with the page starts and stops. It's all in the phone because my iPhone 6 Plus does none of that on the same exact network.

I've described the S6 as having very poor scrolling momentum. Some on these Forums have very harshly criticized me for pointing it out.

Many users are praising how fast the S6 is but, to me, the lag is VERY noticeable. I've been in the Apple and Windows Phone world for a while now where everything is instantaneous and there is zero stutter and lag so I'm thinking that those praising the 'speed' of the S6 aren't familiar with lag free devices like the iPhone 6 Plus and perhaps have been using exclusively Android devices for a while now where it's accepted.

That said, I'm not as down on the S6 as you are. I am guessing (praying?) Google can do a quick fix for this, and other than the lag and battery drain issues (which there may be some solutions for), the S6 is a TREMENDOUS phone that I'm enjoying very much.

But I can't criticize you about your observations and frustrations after having used the S6 myself for nearly a week now.

Great comentary, it's very sad that Samsung can't get it together for some strange reason. .older phones perform better than this

You guys need to stop jumping the gun this quick, every new device is not going to be perfect out of the box. Take my nexus 9 for example, I thought it was going to be blazing fast right out of the box because of the 64 bit and the Nvidia Tegra K1 chip inside. But I was experiencing the same exact problems as you are but worse. Than guess what? they came out with an update 2-4 weeks later and fixed all my problems I was having. So just hold on and don't be too fast to judge the overall performance of the device. Stability will come, just be patient. I know from over 10+ years of experience with android

Based on Samsungs track record these things won't be address. How do I know??? Because these same issues plagued every galaxy phone I've tried and they still haven't done the things necessary to improve user experience. Being a company with the vast resources they have it's pathetic that these same issue are still prevalent..even battery life sucks

It has been commented on as well that the issue with scrolling is tied to java being enabled. Once turned off the browser performs as expected. Try that before sending it back. Java is a joke and should not exist today.

I disabled Java on mine and it had no browser scrolling improvement for me. That said, the scrolling lag issue is more than just Chrome - it occurs in Facebook and Twitter as well where it will pause and stall when scrolling momentarily so it's deeper than just Java anyway.

I'm confident Google can fix this because the S6 has enormous processor power and huge RAM so it has to be a software issue - some are suggesting on XDA Developers that it's a screen redrawing issue.

I've turned java off and it makes the Web pages entirely text only. .in 2015 I shouldn't have to turn things off to get exceptional performance. .the phone cost 800 bucks
