Hi all, I am new to Samsung phone. Ive always been iPhone user until now. I am 50 years old and I can't remember how many iPhones I have bought in my lifetime. Bought a Galaxy Note 9 a few weeks ago. Love it and having so much fun with it. I am wondering why I haven't switched sooner. Anyway I just thought of this question today. With iPhone when I plugged in charger at home with wifi then it would back up to iCloud so should something were to happen to my iphone, e.g. stolen, water damaged, run over by a truck...I would just restore everything from iCloud to a new phone. What do we have on Samsung side that's equivalent to Apple iCloud? and how does it work? Thank you. I apologize for my ignorance.

On Android you have your Google account, and it syncs with whatever options you set it up with in the Sync section of your phone's settings. Samsung phones, on top of that, offer S-Cloud, which is a very close iCloud clone. The problem with the S-Cloud is that, just like iCloud, you can only restore that data to a Samsung device. It can be set up to back up while charging and/or WiFi.

Bear in mind that these aren't the same level of back up as your iPhone. App data, unless cloud storage is supported, will be lost (app restoration is basically either re-dowloading your apps from the Play Store or from the S-Cloud back up). I believe that MMS backup, however, is only possible by using S--Cloud (or Smart Switch if you're doing it to another phone or computer).
