We now have a unofficial build of CyanogenMod 12.1 (5.1.1) thanks to Unjustified Dev.

Here's the xda thread:

[ROM][UNOFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 12.1 for Alcat… | Alcatel Onetouch Idol 3 | XDA Forums

I've been testing the most recent build for about 2 days. Everything is very smooth and fast with no lag (even when multitasking and clearing recent apps) and battery life is still quite good. Now my idol 3 is at least as fast as my G2 on CM 12. Double tap to sleep and wake still work.

I've only noticed a few minor issues. Language & Input in settings doesn't work when trying to change AOSP keyboard settings (use different keyboard). No settings to change MP or storage location in camera app (change camera app). Sound quality isn't stellar with AudioFX. I suggest using Dolby Atmos and/or Viper4Android.

How to install:

1. Download unofficial CM 12.1 for idol 3 from xda thread
2. Download Gapps if you want Google play store and services. I suggest getting open gapps (ARM 64/ 5.1/ nano) from the CM site since the gapps in xda thread won't download.

3. Reboot to TWRP custom recovery
4. Create backup in TWRP
5. Factory reset in TWRP
6. Install CM 12.1 for idol 3 zip
7. Install ARM64 5.1 nano gapps zip
8. Reboot (wait 5-10 mins)

Quite tempted to try this out. My Idol3 has been a bit slow lately, and would like to speeeeed it back up!

Use the 10/29 build. Previous issues have been fixed and it's more stable than 10/30. You'll also need to flash libril zip to get data to work.
