CM7 Nightlies now up...The Hero keeps chugging along

IMHO, it runs pretty good considering that it it is the very first release. GPS and camera both work for me. I'm unable to test wifi, so I'm unsure how well it works.

Sent from my CDMA Hero. I got some hot Gingerbread-on-Hero action here!

Everything seems to work fine, but I'm an aosp man myself. I'm keeping an eye on the nightly builds, though, some of Cyanogen's additions are very nice.

Everything seems to be working, but I'm missing the market. Didn't wipe before upgrade. Will try that when I get home and will update back here later.

What did you upgrade from?
This is the first nightly, so you'd have to wipe before installing, as this is a different ROM than the aospCMod hybrid.

Wiped factory reset and davlik cache. Flashed cm7, then google apps and now I get bootloader loop.

Figured it out. I didn't have the latest google apps zip.

Could be that, or it could be that you need to flash a capped kernel.
If you flash the 1/20 gapps and still get the bootloop, try this:
1. Factory reset
2. Wipe dalvik/cache
3. Flash CM7
4. Flash gapps
5. Flash Deca's capped 691 kernel, found here:
[Kernel][GPL] DecaFuct [2.6.29.6][12/22/2010] - xda-developers
6. Reboot, if you see the CM7 boot animation, you're good, might take a few minutes to load.

Thanks for sharing Chef! I've always used CM builds but most recently started using aosp's Ginberbread build, which is from the CM7 branch at the moment. Aosp has put out some good work and I'm more than pleased with it so far. I'll probably be switching back an forth between the two.

That's what I've been doing lately, but using the aospCMod more. And it's receiving just as much support IMO as any CM Mod.

When I flashed #3 the built in cpu governor was set at 691. I got boot loops also until I flashed the 1/20 gapps.

So flashing 1/20 DID cease the loops?

Just flashed nightly 12 and I'm amazed at how snappy it is... this is a nightly, right??? Jeeze, let me just say barring any crazy poor battery life, it'll become my daily. Only thing I noticed was when adding a contact shortcut, I'd attempt to change the picture from the default profile pic and nothing would happen. Also I had to reinstall swype to get it working with all the apps, but if those were my biggest issues then I'm pretty content.
