CM9 Hot spot activation hangs, doesnt let me disengage.

Its even rebooted my phone on one instance.

[edit] Im only using this phone for WiFi, but the hotspot widget worked on a RebornROM.

Hotspot meaning WiFi tether (Using 3G for WiFi Hotspot) the built in WiFi Tether in CM9 is broken on all builds even in quattimus the work around is to download a free Tether App from the market

The built-in tether for both settings USB and WiFi are broken in our CM9 builds. It's not that it won't let you disable it, it's that it's not even enabled to begin with. It seems to cause a crash with the WiFi driver as well. Simply a reboot will fix.

So, if I dont have my service with Sprint anymore, just using the phone for its conveniences, meaning I dont have 3G, the option of a hotspot is... not an option? Thanks for your help though, it worked. My laptop connects to it, but theres no internet connectivity. Thus my earlier question...

If you use Bluetooth, you could technically use the phone as a Bluetooth WLAN Card using FoxFi's Bluetooth DUN mode.
