CNET: Evo got 3rd Place?! WTF!

It's funny how the Evo won the Cnet Prizefight with the Epic 4G as well as beating several other phones but they give the #1 spot to the Epic. 
Smh more fanboy bait lol. Considering Sprint only has two high end Android phones that offer choice they both win. But alas fanboys have to have a reason to fight right lol.
Although it stinks because i want the EVO to win everything, I don't see how they could skew the numbers.
Editor phone rating + amount of views on said rating = place in this contest.
Does that mean the Droid Incredible is better than he EVO? Me thinks not but it means more people went to cnet and read the review of the incredible. This is more of a popularity contest than anything.

Isn't it also funny how they mention the problem with Bluetooth dialing on the EVO, but not the Epic. The Bluetooth dialing problem was an Android 2.1 problem and it is now fixed in Froyo, which is now on the EVO, but not on the Epic. . .
I imagine some of the popularity point bump on the Epic was by people that were trying to decide if they wanted the Epic before the 30 day evaluation was up.

Agreed. And considering that Sprint phones got #1 & #3 billing where I believe Verizon has more subscribers, that's pretty good.
Although a bit (Just a bit) of a fanboy myself, it was just a little weird to me how they scored it. They should have done a Cnet's Top 5 and a User's Top 5. It just didn't make any sense how the Evo beat out other phones (via prizefights) and then it only places 3rd due to their scoring process.

To be honest this seems correct to me. The Evo is a good phone. But the epic has the slide out QWERTY and the screens is amazing and makes the screen on the Evo look like crap. Epic has the 1ghz also and a much better gpu. Hardware wise I believe the Epic is superior to the Evo. Yeah the Evo has 4g...so does the Epic...so what. You have to live where there is 4g service to actually utilize that technology. The Evo has some ugly cap. buttons too...

Well as we all know, specs alone don't always tell the whole story. The screen is beautiful but has its drawbacks. Unless you play a whole bunch of 3D games, the GPU factor doesn't play into the equation.
To simply say... "I gots my Supa Amoleds!" does not mean the epic is better. It is one component of a great phone. I will be the first one to say its beautiful (but over-saturated a tad). It's really how all these components work together that make the phone.
Incidentally, I like the Evo better. Why? Because IMHO, no one over 17 should be using QUERTYS. LOL. Seriously though, I have no use for one, it's just a waste of space for me. I like the HDMI out (not DLNA), I LOVE THE KICKSTAND ( I know, it's just a kickstand but its awesome). I Like the feel and asthetics and feel of the Evo. The Epic feels like a toy or something you buy your kid when he's in High School. I do like the bigger size screen. I like the that my capacitive buttons work the first time I press them unlike the Epic that takes up to 2 or 3 times sometimes to work. I like that I can see my capacitive buttons at all times too
The browser speed is top notch too. 8 people via mobile hot spot vs. the Epic's 5. Sense is much better then TouchWiz. Again, these are just my opinions and I don't know if they make the Evo better, but it surely makes it better for me.

The slider mechanism on the epic is terrible. IMO Sense is superior to touchwiz.

I wonder if part of the issue might be that Sprint can sell all the Epic's people want to buy and EVO's are always so hard to come by. People tend to vote for their own phone.
Ehhh who cares both good phones... That is a little odd that the epic lost in the prizefight and then wins here... LOL but whatever... I like the epic screen when it comes to colors but the white on the one I played with is horrible.. Looks dingy and washed out... I hope something was wrong with it...

cnet is crazy. Evo IMHO is the best android phone out there so far. Now if HTC ever came out with the HDMI dock for the EVO it would make the phone even better.
Both phones are good and only one will suit your needs best..For me:
-I do like the Epic's screen
-I don't like the cheap plasticy feel
-I don't like touchwiz (Sense is better)
-I don't care for the kb since I'm used to touch typing
-I don't like that the buttons on the bottom of the Epic dim out and you can't push them unless you wake up the screen.
-I don't like that every carrier has the same galaxy phones. It's like Samsung made 1000's of units and just started throwing them at carriers.
These are the reasons WHY the Evo is my phone of choice between the two. Mind you, I'm impulsive and could have easily ran out and bought an Epic at Retail price if I really wanted one bad. I just wasn't moved or wowed by it at all.
