com.android.mms force close

the messaging app on the captivate.keeps closing. it will do that like every hour or so. after that I can't call or do anything for like 3 min. it all just keeps closing. I've only had my captivate since noon of yesterday. I put launcher pro rite away. what's the problem? how do I fix this

I would bring it back and get a new phone and sim card before you've done too much customization.
