I know I had seen people who have come from BB and BB 9000, and I am picking up my Atrix sometime next week, and wanted to check, i know people have said if they had unlimited they kept it, with the BB, you had a BB plan that was unlimited for $30, does this hold true then, if not coming from another android?

i went from a BB9700 to this. they require you to switch from a BB data plan to a regular smartphone data plan, but keeping unlimited is no problem. but MAKE SURE they do it when you're in the store, and confirm it. if you're still not sure afterwards, call 611 and double check.

They told me I couldn't keep unlimited coming from my iPhone plan and they took it away. So I questioned it and they fixed it back to unlimited. It was a pain so make sure they do it right the first time!

Ok..I didn't know if it they would allow you since..if you had a "bb plan" they would play hard ball..so..i know i can play hardball to. thanks!!

i'll throw my hat in the ring to on this one...

before you make the change go ahead and print out a copy of your existing services from your online account just so you can have a copy in hand showing you had the unlimited plan in the event they do give you a hard time.

good luck...once you drink the android kool-aid you will never look back

That's the truth! I hated on Android like crazy over the past few years while being an "Apple fanboy" and all of a sudden decided to try Android out. Holy cow the freedom I have been missing! I LOVE this phone and the Android O/S.

That's what I'm hoping for :-) That is a good idea, I'll have to print it all out and have it with me.Thanks!!

I was a bb bold (9000) user with unlimited data plan and I was able to keep my unlimited data plan. I preordered on the premier site and I was able to get a similar unlimited plan I had back in 2007, which had unlimited data and integrated 1500 messaging for $39.99.

I came from a BB curve 8900 to the Atrix. When purchasing the phone I did have to switch to one of the teired plans, but with a quick call to customer service, they switched it back for me.....just ask to speak with a manager when you call. Also a good idea from above to take a print out of your current plan. DO NOT let anyone tell you that you have to stick with one of the new plans.

FYI if you had the Blackberry Visual Voicemail and you switch to the Atrix, your Voicemail will expire. The Atrix currently does not have Visual Voicemail (unless you have Google Voice). You will need to call up AT&T to reset your voicemail box

Hey guys

Just wondering why you switched to Android from BB and if you guys had a Torch would you still have switched?

I'm torn between buying the Torch and the Atrix...my upgrade is next monday.

Thanks,
Elliott

BB is falling behind in their OS and hardware. I had a BB 9000 and it was a great phone for messaging and the speakers were excellent (much better than the atrix), but I hated the BB browser (it was slow and doesn't render pages properly), hated constantly running low on app memory, and the constant battery pulls. The BB platform doesn't have that many apps compared to android/iphone and the apps in blackberry app world are priced way to high IMO. Even if I had the torch, I'd still switch. Blackberry needs to play catch up and for me to get another BB they have to come out with something that impresses me.

I completely agree with every point.

hikerjim, I just switched to the Atrix today from a Bold 9000 and I got mine from Costco for $120 ($150-$30 coupon, even for upgrades and not just new contracts), so head over to Costco if there's one near you. I verified with them before buying that I could keep my BB unlimited data plan and everything went through just fine. After I got home I called 611 and got confirmation from AT&T that my plan is still unlimited.

The closest Costco to me is just over an hour , i'll have to see if I'm heading up that way soon.
I liked the bb 9000..but I've ran into speaker problems on my initial one and a replacement. It's gotten to the point where i can't even hear it ring now. Now I'm running into BB App world..app world tells me i have updates..go to update, it says the app doesn't exists in BB App world. can't even install new apps now..that's just the problems..that's on top of what has already been said about the browser and slow evolution of the bb os and web experience.
