Configure Chrome browser to stop automatic apk downloads

In some of the websites chrome is automatically downloading some apk files. Each of these apk files are 5 to 10 mb each unnecessarily adding to my network data cost. Specifically I visited songspk.link and mp3tunes.org. Also on these sites, chrome shows so many fake popups and redirects even when block popup is enabled. I tried using stock browser its same case there too. How can I stop Chrome from doing this.

Adblock in Chrome for Android requires root.

Ad Blocker requires use of VPN. I tried Filter Proxy. Worked perfectly across all apps.
