Confirmation before update

I rooted my phone several months ago and now I'd like to switch to a more updated ROM/kernel. I want to follow the most direct route possible, but I find the whole Z9/ZVD/ZVH issue a little confusing. Before I end up with a bricked phone, I just wanted someone to confirm the directions for me. My current software versions are:

SW Version: LS670ZVD
Reborn ROM v2.1
Kernel: 2.6.32.9-picasticks-07
Android 2.2.2
Xionia CWMA v1.2518.6

At this point, I should be able to pick up from step (0) in the "[How-To] Rooting LS670ZVH" thread, correct? Will I need to reinstall Xionia? Would it be better to just stick with ZVD?

Thanks.

Yes, you can start from step 0. You do not need to revert. You'll overwrite Xionia as part of the process and at the end will re-install. Everything is done by scripts so there is minimal typing.

As to whether you should stick with ZVD, it is a personal choice. Some people have issues with the SD card unmounting in ZVH (was there in ZV8 and ZV9 also, but not as bad), some people have trouble charging the phone by USB (should be fixable with new drivers), some people don't like the GingerBread black status bar with tiny notifiers, but some of that gets changed with custom rom skins.

Just make sure you make a Nandroid backup and you can always go back to what you had before. It is much easier to revert back to ZVD now that we have a full updater (no more need for KP500)

Yes just follow that thread. It is read easy, should only take about 20 minutes if you're not technically skilled. Quicker if you are. Just read the directions and follow them.
And yes you will have re-install Xionia, but that is part of the directions. Will not be has hard as the first time either.

Sent from my 2.3.3 Opti-rom W/1Gb internal storage
Always happy to help, Hit that thanks button if I did

You could just stick with ZVD based ROMs until LG and Sprint get their stuff together for real. Why not just upgrade to Reborn 2.24 since you are using an older version? It's the only current ROM I have found for this device where everything just works. So what if it's Froyo?

You may want to consider giving thekraven's CM7 Rom a try.

Best thing about it is all the goodness of Gingerbread, but you stay on radio ZVD.

That way, if you find out you don't like Gingerbread, you can go back to your original rom
just by doing a nandroid restore - you did do a nandroid backup first - right?

If you upgrade to gRom or one of the other Sprint official based roms, you have to ugprade
to radio ZVH which means if you don't like it, you have to do much more work to downgrade.

With the new full ZVD update.zip, It is the same work to upgrade to ZVH as it is to downgrade to ZVD.

Thanks for the suggestion - this is what I ended up doing actually. When I first read through the guide I thought all of the current ROMs required the ZVH update. I'm now happily running thekraven's CM7 Rom! I'll migrate over to ZVH when I don't have so many important events coming up.

... and yes, I am making nandroid backups :)
